Go to any medical conference or website, and you will hear about physical fitness as the wonder drug.[1] As you work out more frequently you gain more energy to do it again. Minimizing all friction and setting up habitual triggers and rewards (per James Clear’s book Atomic Habits) is quite helpful.

Far better to shoot for 10,000 pounds lifted in a day than 10,000 steps. 10,000 pounds is very achievable if you just add up all weight across all reps. Yes, bench press and curl weights aren’t directly comparable. Still, it’s directionally better than steps. Many lifting apps will track total pounds lifted for you. 10,000 pounds is the new 10,000 steps!

The screen provides mental stimulation without physical effort. Overuse fatigues the mind too much, and the body not enough.
