Appreciation

This project has provided a feast of gratitude for dozens of people over many years. It’s staggering to think how many talented people left their fingerprints on these pages. I’m grateful to every one of you for every moment and murmur.

There are always more names in the back of the book than there are on the front. Thank you to all who generously gave their time, expertise, wisdom, and skill to create this book.

Thank you first to Balaji, for being open to this project. I’m honored by the opportunity to build something around your ideas. It’s quite something to trust someone with the raw material of your life’s work. I appreciate your trust, generosity, and support.

I am grateful to Jack Butcher for lending his immense talents once again. The illustrations and visuals in this book are entirely his. His work clarifies and elevates every idea he touches. Thank you for taking this project on in addition to all of your own. I appreciate your talent, kindness, and heart.

I am grateful to all of the fantastic interviewers and writers who created the building blocks of this book. There are dozens, but in particular Lex Fridman, David Perell, Shane Parrish, Shaan Puri, Sam Parr, Chris Williamson, Patrick O’Shaughnessy, Erik Torenberg, Tyler Cowen, and Jason Calacanis. I learned something from all of you, and I appreciate you creating and sharing excellent work.

I remain grateful to my parents for every gift, effort, and sacrifice that put me in a position to create this book. You lovingly built the foundation for everything I ever do, and I’ll never forget that.

I am grateful for my wife, Jeannine Jorgenson, for being extremely patient with the amount of times I mention Balaji. I am also grateful for your wise counsel, positivity, and encouragement. Thank you for always keeping morale high.

I am grateful for a fantastic editing and design team at Scribe Media, in particular Tashan Mehta (structural editing), Tracy Hundley (line editing), Sophie May (coach), David Arias (cover), and many more.

I am grateful for author friends who share their expertise and without whom I’d have more confusion and less laughter: Max Olson, Taylor Pearson, James Clear, Morgan Housel.

I am grateful to my vast crew of beta readers for their time, opinions, and wise advice. Every one of you made valuable contributions to this book, and it wouldn’t be what it is without you. Thanks for the tough love and loving toughness. My deepest appreciation for each of you: Andrew Farah, Tristan Homsi, Daniel Doyon, Jessie Jacobs, Kaylan Perry, Sean O’Connor, Dean Oliver, Andrew Werthiem, Alex W. (& Books), Adam Waxman, Taylor Pearson, Tim Harsch, Jesse Powers, Johnny Peterson, Sky King, Megan Darnell, Chase Ilten, and Nat Eliason.

I remain grateful to Naval Ravikant for trusting me to create what became The Almanack of Naval Ravikant. It was a life-changing project that led directly to this opportunity.

I am grateful to Ivan Edgar Garcia, my assistant, who faithfully supported me in creating this book and, by taking on many responsibilities, giving me time to work. (Shout-out to Athena for making this partnership possible!)

I am grateful to the authors and creators who inspired this book. My drive to create and share this book came directly out of a deep appreciation for the life-changing impact of similar books, a few of which I’d like to name specifically:

●      Poor Charlie’s Almanack by Peter Kaufman (of Charlie Munger’s work)

●      Zero to One by Blake Masters (of Peter Thiel’s work)

●      Seeking Wisdom (and others) by Peter Bevelin (of Buffett and Munger’s work)

●      Berkshire Hathaway Letters to Shareholders by Max Olson (of Buffett’s work)

●      Principles by Ray Dalio (and team)

I am grateful for the support of many friends and strangers online who supported and encouraged me throughout this project. My DMs overflow with kind words and eager (sometimes impatient) inquiries. I appreciate every gesture. Your energy helped pull me through the 1,000+ hours it took to create this for you.
